29 Finger's secret Anglo-Japanese weapon, Erika simply oozes talent. Do you dance or simply stop and stare? She is that good. She scores across the board whether it is pop, jazz or big musical numbers, (anyone who has heard "Hopelessly Devoted to You" will know what we are talking about), but she is most at home as your archetypal rock diva where the bigger the song the more she rocks it out.
How The Fingers managed to prise her away from the West End (she was spotted on stage in London) is one of those great mysteries that surround the band. (Along with how the band got its name!) Get the Footman autograph now - next time you will be queuing in the rain outside HMV. And don't forget, you saw her here first!
What a pedigree. This man was born with a guitar in one hand and pneumatic drill in the other. OK, he sometimes confuses the two, but with Ivan's lead solos at least you'll never be caught napping.
Ivan is U2's Pete Best. Fighting it out in the school playground with the undisputed kings of rock Ivan was part of the original U2 line up. To this day he regularly interrupts rehearsals at Fingers Hall to take calls from Bono and the boys. Books have been written about Ivan and column inches stuffed with the "what ifs and buts" of his life, but one thing is certain - this man is now 100% Fingers. The Edge may still send guitars over for Ive to test, but however unsubtle the bribes the Fingers lead guitarist has sworn not to go back. With the Finger's gig schedule who can blame him!
One half of "Shook Up", Ivan and his brother Neil (now the Daily Telegraph's music critic), secured a record deal in the 80's and Ivan's been in and out of the music industry ever since whether it's composing for TV, writing songs or producing albums.
The Piano Man. The Fingers began with Dom and Ivan in the hazy, lazy bars of the Val D'Isere where the duo would ski, drink and entertain the punters - usually at the same time. It took one of their more frequent visitors, Mr Chris Cocker, to kick the duo out a mist of tequila into some kind of sobriety forming a trio - The 29 Fingers.
Dom has an inimitable style of musicianship in which no song is ever played the same twice. That's OK for his solo gigs when he's schmoozing with the young girls of London痴 late night bars and hotels, but it is not so good for the band whom he regularly keeps guessing - along with himself. He says he has rectified the problem by studiously making notes, he puts them neatly on the piano only to be scattered around the stage like confetti when he strikes his first chord.
BBB. Billy Boy Bass is the Fingers' backbone. (Except if he's having 'one of his turns' where a cup of Russian vodka usually does the trick).
If you're jumping up to dance the chances are you'll have been stirred by Bill's rhythmic licks - and of course his bass playing. Metronomic in his performance both on and off stage this man is the antithesis of "wing-it". If you're half a beat out, with Trinity College musicianship, Bill is the one to put you back on track, all with his unique blend of subtle language. Not.
"Two-steps" (too far) BBB may say strange things and fold his pyjamas, but Fingers Fans can forgive these off-stage quirks, most are too mesmerised by Bill's ability to both play complicated Bass riffs whilst simultaneously monitoring the band's sound.
William's pension is a pristine red 1980s Peugeot GTI. As Bill is happier to look at it rather than drive it he has become a self-confessed long-distance scooter driver. Look out for him burning up the village high street doing wheelies on his Honda 50………………………. Not!
Tom Lorimer hadn't touched the drums for 10 years when he first auditioned for the Fingers - and, yes - you could tell. It may have taken sometime for him to get back in the saddle, but (some) Fingers Fans say it was well worth the wait.
Tom is the man the herd head for after each gig and not just to order fine wine which he sells to A-list celebs by the pallet. He is the band's fulltime caretaker-manager and he comes furnished with business cards and spread-sheets with the Fingers availability and prices. If you're fighting for a date (as many are) he is the one member of the band you need to be nice to. With his delicate touch and "unique" rhythms Tommy is from the Ringo school of drumming: rarely practicing he learns live.
